HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Purpose ECCO Code of Conduct’s Commitment 9 states that: “ECCO aims to be a leader within the environment, health and safety and supports sustainable development”. The Group Health & Safety Policy sets out ECCO’s general approach and the Senior Management’s commitment, together with the arrangements that ECCO has put in place for managing Health & Safety in ECCO’s business as a whole. This drives ECCO’s Health and Safety performance. 1.2 Scope The Group Health & Safety policy applies to all ECCO employees and visitors at ECCO’s premises. The policy also applies to contractors (hereafter referred to as “concerned persons”). Customers and consumers are covered by the policy proportionally, within the set legal frame. The transportation safety of these defined persons and groups falls under ECCO competences only if the transportation is being organised directly by ECCO, or if the transportation is directly related to the required working duties of ECCO employees. 2. POLICY STATEMENT The Group Health and Safety Policy Statement confirms that the health and safety of ECCO’s employees, and visitors to ECCO’s premises, is a matter of utmost priority to ECCO. The operation of healthy, safe, and injury-free workplaces is a priority of ECCO’s senior management, and the company strives to ensure that any person in any of ECCO’s sites will act in a safe and responsible manner. Operating standards implemented at every ECCO site ensure that both local legal and relevant global safety standards are met. The implementation of best practices, evaluation of key performance indicators, and measuring compliance against set standards serve the primary goal: to secure a continuous improvement of ECCO’s performance in maintaining health and safety standards. To ensure the required level of health and safety standards, ECCO will, as a minimum: • Strive to meet all applicable health and safety laws in all countries where the company operates. • S et clear objectives and targets, against which the company will measure and report on its health and safety performance. • Manage health and safety risk and performance effectively, actively seeking and acting upon meaningful opportunities to reduce risk and improve ECCO’s health and safety performance. • S eek to prevent injuries by performing clearly defined risk assessments throughout the business. • Train and educate health and safety professionals to gain an expert knowledge about local legal requirements and international standards and best practices. 32
