ECCO MODERN SLAVERY & TRANSPARENCY STATEMENT 2021 This statement describes the steps taken by the ECCO Group (ECCO Sko A/S incl. all its subsidiaries) to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in ECCO’s business and supply chains. The statement responds to the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act. The statement has been approved and signed by ECCO’s Group Managing Board. INTRODUCTION ECCO has always been a strong supporter of the internationally defined human rights and the fight against any type of forced labour. Since 1999, this support has been demonstrated through ECCO’s Code of Conduct (CoC), which covers the guiding principles for ECCO’s operations world - wide. Following, several supporting policies have been introduced to support ECCO’s fight against human rights abuse broadly and modern slavery specifically. ECCO is aware of the issue of modern slavery and human trafficking across the world. Abusive working conditions are unacceptable, and ECCO welcomes the growing body of legislation that focuses on pre - venting modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring. ECCO’S BUSINESS AND SUPPLY CHAINS ECCO produces high-quality leather and footwear and is headquar - tered in Denmark. It operates in 89 markets and owns production facil - ities in Portugal, Indonesia, Thailand, Slovakia, the Netherlands, China, and Vietnam. ECCO is unique in the way it owns and controls the major - ity of its value chain, from tanning of hides, production of shoes, to sale of products to wholesale customers and consumers. ECCO thus owns facilities in what is considered tier 1, 2, and 3 of its supply chain. ECCO does, however, still rely on suppliers of materials for its products and other parts of its business. To prevent modern slavery from taking place in its supply chain, ECCO has established a Code of Conduct Au - dit System which is elaborated further below. Based on an external assessment, ECCO’s business model is consid - ered a key strength in its fight against human rights abuse, incl. modern slavery and human trafficking. Operating its own production and retail operations gives ECCO full control of the working conditions for its 21,700 employees, thereby minimising the overall modern slavery risks related to ECCO. ECCO’S POLICIES AND PROCESSES ADDRESSING MODERN SLAVERY ECCO’s CoC, which is signed and overseen by the Group Managing Board, affirms ECCO’s commitment to proactively respect internationally defined human rights. The CoC makes clear that ECCO must provide employees with a workplace that protects human rights and is free of harassment and abuse, and further condemns any form of forced labour. For the specific area of modern slavery, ECCO has an official Modern Slavery Policy, which is considered an integrated part of ECCO’s CoC.
