HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Purpose This policy supports commitment 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 in the ECCO Code of Conduct (see commitment text under “2.1 Human Rights Policy”). The purpose of this policy is to encourage ownership, commitment and adherence to all levels of the business and to provide framework for establishing and reviewing human rights objectives. 1.2 Scope This Policy applies to all ECCO Group entities. 2. POLICY STATEMENT 2.1 Human Rights Policy 1. PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS ECCO proactively protects all its employees under the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. 2. EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES AND NON-DISCRIMINATION No employee must be denied opportunities based on race, gender, age, maternity status, caste, origin, nationality, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs. All decisions concerning hiring, placement, salary, benefits, advancement, termination or retirement, hours of work and rest, and holidays and training opportunities are solely based on the employees’ ability to do the job, with no distinction, exclusion, or preference made on other grounds. 3. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM All opportunities are based on merit and religion is never considered. Where the employees wish to have prayer rooms, ECCO will provide them. All employees have freedom to dress according to their religion. However, safety guidelines must be observed in accordance with local safety regulations. 4. RIGHT OF ASSOCIATION ECCO respects the individual’s right of association. 5. ABUSE, HARASSMENT, and FORCED LABOUR ECCO will react decisively if examples of abuse or harassment are experienced. ECCO has Environment, Health & Safety Committees at all production units to oversee working conditions, and to assist employees in voicing any concerns they may have. ECCO also operates a system where employees can report complaints without fear of reprisal. Forced labour is prohibited. 6. ECCO supports the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. ECCO will ensure the minimum age for employment is in accordance with local law. However, no child below the age of 15 will be employed. ECCO demands its suppliers follow the same employment age rule. 38
